As usual for the end of a Fortnite season, we can expect to see some downtime for the end of Chapter 2 Season 8 on December 4, 2021. However, this time we should expect a lot more downtime because they don't change. to a new season, but to a whole new chapter! Similar to the change from Chapter 1 to Chapter 2, we can expect the downtime to be several days.
Chapter 2 is set to end on December 4 at 15 p.m. CT, but Chapter 3 isn't expected to start until December 7. This means that Fortnite will be unavailable for around two and a half to three days. The reason for the big increase in downtime is likely due to the amount of content that needs to be added or changed, and making sure everything runs as smoothly as possible.

Those of us who were there for Fortnite's Chapter 2 move will probably remember the full island reboot. It was a completely new map with new locations, new points of interest, new weapons, new characters, and more. Whatever happens, we can expect the update to be big enough to feel like we're installing a whole new game!
