Ubisoft seems to want to pass the second with the remake of Splinter Cell. Indeed, after formalizing the development of the game almost a year ago, the French publisher has posted a video celebrating the 20th anniversary of the series and in which Chris Auty (creative director), Christian Carriere (technical director) , Andy Schmoll (senior game designer) and Zavian Porter (associate director of level design) unveil the first visuals of Splinter Cell Remake.
"It's not just a remastered version, warns Chris Auty. We're redoing everything from the beginning. We're redoing everything from scratch, everything will be fresh." "Yes, we want to create this quality remake and do our best, says Zavian Porter. This should help us provide a good foundation for the franchise in the future." Of course, the developers were attentive to the reaction of fans when the game was announced. "We saw great publications in the community, says Christian Carriere. There was an open letter on the subreddit. We saw that on social media, and that gives us a lot of strength."
“And of course, with the remake, 20 years later, we can review the scenario, the characters, the story of the game, improve things, especially those that have not aged well, underlines Chris Auty. But the center of history, of experience remains the same." “We also explored new ideas and features from other Splinter Cell titles,” says Andy Schmoll. To calm the impatience of fans, Chris Auty admits that the site is only in its infancy and that the teams are still in full prototyping. "We don't want to rush anything, he assures us. We want to make sure we have a perfect game, do everything well, have an experience of incredible quality."
A bit like Sam Fisher, the Ubisoft Toronto teams will now disappear into the shadows to continue working hard on Splinter Cell Remake which will rely, among other things, on the Snowdrop Engine (The Division). Clearly, there is no chance – even if you should never say never – that a trailer will be broadcast during the Game Awards 2022 which will take place on December 8. We take this opportunity to recall that last October, David Grivel, the director of the game, announced his departure to sail towards new adventures. He had notably worked on Splinter Cell Blacklist, Assassin's Creed Unity, Far Cry Primal, 5, 6 or even Ghost Recon Future Soldier.
