Fortnite players were surprised when we moved from Season 7 to Season 8, as there were dramatic changes to the inside, outside, and side map. One of the most noticeable changes is that the radar dishes placed on the map are still there, but they have apparently been abandoned by the IO guards.
That wouldn't be a big deal, other than it doesn't look like the IO guards have a new permanent home. This creates a confusing challenge when we receive tasks from NPCs that require us to interact with them. So the question is: where do we find them?

IO guards work a little differently this season. Last season, IO guards appeared in bases regardless of the situation. During this season, you must enter a side anomaly to trigger their appearance process. Unfortunately, this means that there are currently no set spawn locations for IO guards. Side anomalies appear at different times in each match, so players will need to get there and trigger the encounter.
During the encounter, IO guards usually spawn around the second wave. However, there's no guarantee they'll spawn, and when they do, they're hostile towards you and Cube Monsters.
As the story unfolds throughout the season, we anticipate IO guards showing up more often and in different circumstances. However, until then, Side Anomalies are the only place you can find them!
