Well, if you thought it was crazy that the island was basically submerged in water, then it was a shock to see a bunch of different vehicles coming through the Season 3 trailer! We'll be looking at the car mechanic that will be added to Fortnite at some point during the season.
Car driving guide
If you're wondering how to drive cars in Fortnite right now, you're going to be a little disappointed. You cannot currently drive cars due to the water level on the map. There wouldn't really be enough room to justify it right now. However, you can expect this mechanic to appear later in the season as the water dissipates and more of the map is exposed. Although you can't drive a car yet, you can hitch a ride on a shark!
Here is the exact quote and details from the official Fortnite site:
As time passes and the water recedes, even more places will be discovered. And as the roadways open up, you'll discover new ways to get around...
You get a quick look at the cars driving around in the Battle Pass in-game trailer:
Based on this trailer, it looks like there will be plenty of vehicles you can ride in. At the very least, there will be a sedan like cars and a taxi. You will be able to drive two or three different vans, and even ride in a semi-truck without a trailer. There's also what appears to be a faster sports car!
You can see the gray sports car which is probably going to be the fastest/quickest vehicle you can find. There is also the van behind, which can optionally have an additional player in the bed.
You can then see the taxi and the semi-truck driving! The big truck will probably be a tank, because it will be difficult to destroy and will have a lot of hit points.
Driving the cars will probably be the same as any other vehicle, you can just interact with it to enter it. Based on the looks of these vehicles, I wouldn't be surprised if there are plenty of them available across the island. They will likely spawn in places related to the place of interest. General cars will likely spawn in places like Holly Hedges and Retail Row. Trucks will potentially spawn in more rural areas, things that will likely eventually spawn after the water recedes.
That's all about the cars we know about so far! We'll update this guide with more information as it becomes available.
