Fortnite is well known for its cosmetics, and there are plenty that have come out over the years of the game's lifespan. Some of them have gotten lost in the shuffle over the years, which means that 'they haven't really been back to the shop for a while. Well, we'll take a look at those in our Fortnite Rarest Pickaxes article! If you've ever wondered if you have a particularly unique harvesting tool, we hope we've given you the information you're looking for.
The Thief's Revenge
The first season of Fortnite had a very small amount of cosmetics, making them all very rare. The Battle Royale aspect of Fortnite had yet to gain popularity, meaning there weren't many people in the game at the time who even had the option of purchasing the Raider's Revenge Pickaxe. The season itself didn't even work the way it does now. Instead of buying the pass and leveling it up, you would simply level up in the season and get the chance to buy a particular cosmetic with V-Bucks. If you combine all of these things together, it makes the Raider's Revenge the rarest pickaxe in the game that doesn't require competitive play.

Ax of Champions
If we're going to get technical on this, then the FNCS Champions Ax is hands down the rarest pickaxe in the game. Only one player can own it at a time, and you'll need to be the current Fortnite Championship champion. Series to own it. Once the player who owns it loses their place at the top, it moves on to the next champion.

Here's our list of the 50 rarest pickaxes in the game based on when they were last seen in the Item Shop. This really is the best method to at least put some logic behind determining the rarest pickaxe. There are no official published figures on purchases when it comes to cosmetics, so any list will simply be compiled solely on speculation and anecdotal evidence. You'll notice a theme with the majority of them, which is that they're all pretty low. This is a good indicator of why you haven't seen them in the store so often. Epic most likely only places cosmetics in the Item Shop if they sell well. Items that don't sell well rarely come back to the store!
