Combat Tactique is a game in which 8 opponents compete to be the last survivor. The parties take place in many rounds, during which players will gradually lose life points, until they reach 0. Each round is broken down into four phases.
Phase 1: Preparation
Before the start of the fight, each player has several tens of seconds to prepare. The preparation allows first of all to choose which champions go on the board and which remain on the bench. It also allows to position your champions correctly, in order to take advantage of their different abilities, or to use some of them to protect others. Finally, this phase is also an opportunity to spend your gold in order to buy new champions who will come to reinforce your army or wait on the bench.
In addition to the 9 champions you can have on the bench, you can have up to 10 on your board, to be distributed among the 21 spaces available.
In addition to the champions that are offered each round, you will also have the possibility of spend 2 gold coins in order to have new ones available for purchase, if you are looking for a particular unit for his class ou His origin. Finally, the preparation phase is an opportunity to combine multiple champions to transform them into an improved version, or to equip different items.
Phase 2 : Combat
After preparation, the fight begins. Two scenarios can happen: either your team is teleported to the board of one of the 7 opponents, or his is teleported to your board. In either case, the two teams face each other. You don't control your champions during the fight. At the end of the fight, one team will emerge victorious. Depending on how many champions are still alive, they will deal damage to the Loser's Little Legend. The Little Legend is the player's avatar, and she starts the game with 100 VP. When it drops to 0, the game is lost.
Stage 3: Rewards
At the end of the fight, each player will earn gold and experience. All players initially earn an equal sum of gold at the end of each round, but there are several ways to increase this rent:
- By winning the fight.
- By having won or lost more than two rounds in a row, which will then give an increasingly important bonus as the series of victories or defeats continues, up to a certain point.
- By Earning Interest: For every ten gold you have in stock, you will earn an additional gold each round, up to a bonus of +5 per round at 50 gold. It is therefore wise to save your gold to have a better economy in the future.
- By having 3 or more Pirates in your team: You will then earn 1 to 4 additional gold coins per round.
In addition to buying champions, gold is also used to change those on offer to find more useful ones, but also to buy experience. It is also possible to sell your champions if you are in critical need of gold.
Experience is also important: the level of your Little Legend corresponds to the number of champions you can have on your team. It starts at level 1, and can go up to level 9. Each player gains experience at the end of the round, but it is also possible to use their gold to buy it, at the value of 4 gold coins for 4 XP points. Once the various rewards have been collected, the next round resumes at phase 1.
Special rounds
There are two types of special rounds, in which players do not go against each other, which occur periodically. First, multiple rounds pit players against each otherminions and other neutral monsters. Generally quite easy, these opponents are very important sincethey drop random basic items when they die, which you can then pick up and equip to your champions.
The first round of a game is a Carousel where all players can choose at the same time.
Finally, the other special round is that of « Carousel ». All players are teleported to the center of the map, and a carousel spins, with 10 champions each equipped with an item in it. Each player will be able to choose one of these champions and their object in order to add him to his team for free, but you have to be quick. All players are frozen at the start of the round, and the first player who can act is the one with the least VP, followed a few moments later by the penultimate, etc. The more difficult a player is, the more time he will have in advance of the others in order to choose what he needs the most, if he is fast enough. The player who is in the lead will usually have to make do with the leftovers.
