The composition 6 Sorcerers / Guardian of the stars
It is possible to play different variations of the composition 6 Wizards, but the one that uses Riven as a late-game main tank is the most popular. Typically used with a strategy of rush level 8, she uses Riven for her ability to become very hard to kill with magic power, while Xerath et Janna deal with controls and damage.
This composition is very powerful in the late game and is quite flexible: in addition to Riven, Gangplank can be used with another Demolitionist, Or Super Mecha is also a very interesting option as a frontline. You will need to know how to adapt your composition to your needs to succeed.
When to Play This Comp and Victory Conditions
This composition is one of the easiest to force since it does not depend on any level 3 champion and only a few objects. However, it is recommended to respect some conditions:
- You have Chopsticks too big for Riven, and ideally something to do Guardian angel.
- You have found Wizards quickly in order to be strong enough in the early and mid game.
If you are aiming for top 1 in a game, you will usually need to meet the following criteria:
- All your level 2 champions, including Janna and Xerath with interesting objects.
- You have Riven level 3 with at least the two core objects (Guardian angel et Mercury with potentially Headdress of Rabadon).
Preferred items
Riven |
||||
Guardian angel |
Rabadon's Headdress |
Ion Spark |
||
+ | + | + | ||
The object that is absolutely necessary for this composition Guardian angel since it allows Riven not to die because of the enemy burst, and therefore to tank longer. Secondly, the best option will often be the Rabadon's Headdress to further increase the value of his shield and damage, but other options are possible, while Ion Spark reduces opponents' magic resistance.
In some situations, the Mercury will be necessary (in the face of Zéphyrs or to controls). Finally, she can use defensive items such as Will of the Titan ou bramble armor for example. |
Annie, Rumble ou Fizz |
||||
Mercury |
bramble armor |
Ion Spark |
||
+ | + | + | ||
If you play Super Mecha, this one can use a lot of different defensive objects. In almost all cases, the Mercury should be the priority so that it is not controlled and does not suffer the Zéphyrs opponents.
For the rest, he can use different defensive items ( bramble armor, Will of the Titan, dragon claw, Portail de Zz'Rot, Guardian angel, Shroud of Calming...), as well as a Ion Spark which may be interesting. Finally, if you don't have the correct components, you can always equip him with Thief's Gloves. |
Janna |
||||
Lance de Shojin |
Chalice of Power |
|||
+ | + | |||
Janna acts as an excellent support unit, with strong area controls that can also boost his allies. As a result, she is extremely powerful with one or two Lances de Shojin to launch its repeated tornadoes, while the Chalice of Power allows him to boost the magic power of two allies (usually Xerath and another Wizard).
In addition to these objects, a blue buff or a Zeke's Crest may also be interesting to increase its utility. Finally, since the Star Guardians deal pure damage with their basic attacks thanks to Paragon, it may be interesting to give him damage items ( Infinity blade, giant slayer...) if you have trouble killing the Mystics opponents. |
Viktor |
||||
blue buff |
Precious Gauntlet |
Infinity blade |
||
+ | + | + | ||
Viktor will usually be tasked with finishing off opponents. His items don't have priority over Riven/Mecha, but he can use a mana item to cast faster ( blue buff, Lance de Shojin indeed Star Guardian Charm) and magic power items.
It will be rare that you have enough Chopsticks too big to make him one Rabadon's Headdress, but the combination of Precious Gauntlet + Infinity blade can be very effective. |
Spatula and other objects
This composition takes great advantage of the Spatula if you get your hands on it. It is possible to change Viktor en Guardian of the stars ( + ) so that it gains mana faster. It will also allow you to play 6 Star Guardians au 9 level.
Alternatively, it is possible to equip items on your Xerath (usually Guinsoo's Raging Blade et Mercury), although they are not necessary when you have Janna to boost it.
Course of the game
In this composition, you will generally want to level up to 8 quickly to find your legendary units as soon as possible. There are, however, several effective and interesting transitions for surviving mid-game without having to roll.

Early game (levels 3/4/5)
In the early game, you should quickly build one of your key items if you have the chance ( Guardian angel, Rabadon's Headdress...). At 3 level, you mostly want to already have 2 Initiators to play.
Indeed, the best way to get to the endgame with this composition is to play a combination ofInitiators and Wizards. Accordingly, try to have poppy, Leona, Twisted fate et Zoe au 4 level for example. If you can, use Ahri instead of Twisted fate in order to also have 3 Star Guardians. As soon as you have the chance, replace Leona by Mordekaiser, which can very well take advantage of objects of Riven ( Guardian angel, Rabadon's Headdress).
Another option is to use space pirates, if you have Graves et Darius levels 2 for example, the latter using objects. It is then very interesting to transfer them to Jayce afterwards: he will be the best transition carry. At 5 level, if you get your hands on Jayce, you can play 2 Initiators + 2 Sorcerers and 2 Space Pirates. Do not spend gold on XP at the start of the game (except potentially to level 5 in 2-7 or if you are on a winning streak) in order to quickly reach 50 gold.
Midgame (levels 6/7)
If you are already quite strong and on a winning streak, you can pass 6 level en round 3-2. Otherwise, wait until you reach this level by staying above 50 gold. It is then very interesting to play either 4 Wizards (Ahri, Syndra, Zoe and Twisted Fate) + 2 Initiators (Jayce and Wukong or Mordekaiser), or to play 4 Initiators (with additional Leona and/or Poppy) + 2 Sorcerers if there is a lot of physical damage in your lobby.
If you're really weak and you start to lose a lot of HP (below 40 for example), consider roll a little in order to obtain tier 2 champions (Jayce, Ahri, Mordekaiser...) and to stabilize. If you find a Fizz, you can play Mecha Pilot in the middle of the game. Try to buy the Rivens which you also find. Otherwise, keep saving. You should logically be able to pass level 7 in round 4-1.
At this point, ideally your Jayce carries the objects of Riven the time to get it level 2 while the items of Xerath will, for example, be held by Twisted fate. If you were playing space pirates earlier in the game, you can turn in your second unit to once again benefit from the extra gold on top of the 2 / 4 Sorcerers / Initiators. Otherwise, play directly 6 Wizards + Riven if you have it level 2.
Endgame (level 8+)
If your economy has been strong and you have earned gold with space pirates or a winning streak, you should be able to pass level 8 in round 4-3, while still having 30 to 40 gold aside. If you're late or that you had to roll earlier, feel free to delay this level in 4-5 indeed 5-1, especially if you are not challenged.
Once level 8, you will have to make a choice : either you can just play 6 Wizards in combination with 2 Initiators (Jayce et Wukong ideally), 3 Mecha Pilots Or your Riven, while still strong enough to save and fetch the 9 level, or the lobby is rather strong and you risk losing too many VPs in which case you should roll to find Riven, Janna and Xerath levels 2.
You also don't have to roll all your gold to find your upgrades, you can also roll up to 20 or 30 gold then play your level 1 legendaries and start saving again. It will however be very important to pass level 9 once you have stabilized, since this will greatly increase your chances of improving them.
When you will be 9 level, you will have different options: replace Riven by Gangplank and add Rumble, add one Press Shadow to help your Xerath (usually Karma to boost its attack speed), or simply add a strong unit individually, like Thresh ou Fizz. If you have a Spatula to make a Star Guardian Charm, you can add oraka to get 6 Star Guardians.
Different possible transitions
The 6 Wizards archetype can be declined in several compositions, depending on the units you obtain at the end of the game and the different components at your disposal.
|
Twisted fate |
Ahri |
Annie |
syndra |
|
Rumble |
Gangplank |
If you can't find Janna but you have Gangplank, it can replace Riven : it uses the same objects as this one and will have a different interest. Instead of serving as a tank, he should just try to one-shot the opposing team really quickly, especially with buffs for his ultimate. You will then need to add Rumble ou ziggs for Demolitionist. |
|
Ahri |
Annie |
syndra |
|
Xerath |
Rumble |
Fizz |
Besides the versions Riven ou Gangplank, another interesting option at level 8 is to play 6 Sorcerers + 3 Mecha Pilots with defensive objects (Mercury, bramble armor, Will of the Titan...). You can then try to pass some of them levels 3Including Rumble et Annie. Your goal will still be to pass 9 level for add Gangplank. |
|
Ahri |
syndra |
neeko |
Soraka |
Janna |
Viktor | Urgot |
Another possible and quite natural transition is simply to start with the composition 6 Star Guardians. neeko can then use the objects of Gangplank to perfection (with perhaps the morellonomicon rather than the Headdress of Rabadon). This transition is especially recommended if you get your hands on a lot of Tears of the Goddess, which will be very useful to syndra et Ahri. It also works very well with a Spatula for change Urgot en Guardian of the stars for example.

Positioning Tips
With this composition, you almost always want to have your Riven isolated in frontline so that it tank the majority of opponents.
Your others Wizards will usually go to the baseline, with Janna which boosts your main units (Viktor et Xerath) if she has a Chalice of Power. If you are facing Infiltrators, try changing your positioning so that less important units are targeted first.
If your Xerath to a Mercury, it may be interesting to put it in the corner opposite the opposing team so that he is the last unit alive and can usually finish off the opposing champions. However, it is more interesting to position it so that it is affected by tornadoes Janna, to boost his attack speed.
