The composition "Bang Bros" Blade Master / Rebel
This composition is based on a very simple and effective duo: Yasuo one-shot an opposing carry with his ultimate (since he targets a champion far from him), Zed also attacks the backline, and Master Yi gets rid of the rest with its excellent raw damage. Accordingly, this composition seeks to achieve these three champions at levels 3, and is rather flexible on what other units she can use. The most popular version currently is the one that plays 6 Master of Blades.
When to Play This Comp and Victory Conditions
This composition can be very effective but you will absolutely have to meet certain conditions in order not to finish in 8th place:
- You are the only player to adopt this composition : you depend on Master Yi et Yasuo levels 3 and won't find them if you are challenged.
- You have the components to make key objects on Master Yi quickly, or at least 2 Curved Arcs for the Ultra-fast cannon.
If you are aiming for top 1 in a game, you will usually need to meet the following criteria:
- Master Yi, Yasuo, and possibly Zed et Shen levels 3. They will keep you relevant until late game.
- Demonstrate adaptability in the final composition : the choice of the other units is rather free, take the opportunity to adapt it to your needs: 4 Mystics against magic damage for example.
Preferred items
Master Yi |
||||
Ultra-fast cannon |
Ouragan de Runaan |
Rabadon's Headdress |
||
+ | + | + | ||
Master Yi is the main carry of this composition. Since it relies on constant DPS, it's essential that it stays within range, making Ultra-fast cannon its most essential object. With this one, Ouragan de Runaan will be very powerful to almost double its DPS. Third, the best choice will often be the Headdress of Rabadon which increases its damage but also the healing.
He can, however, use more defensive options ( mercury, Warmog Armor, bramble armor, Guardian angel, or dragon claw) or offensive ( giant slayer, precious gauntlet, hand of justice, Guinsoo's Raging Blade...). |
Shen |
||||
Shroud of Calming |
Redemption |
Portail de Zz'Rot |
||
+ | + | + | ||
Even more important than giving items to one of your secondary carries, having defensive items on Shen will give Master Yi more time to kill opponents. the Shroud of Calming is always nice to have, while the Redemption can often heal most of your melee attacking champions. If you have some Curved arches too much, the Portail de Zz'Rot is also powerful on a champion level 3.
Otherwise, he can use just about any other defensive items: Warmog Armor, bramble armor, dragon claw... |
Zed |
||||
Deposed king blade |
Guardian angel |
|||
+ | + | |||
Zed is the third Rebelle and third carry. Its main object will be Deposed king blade if you manage to get your hands on a Spatula to change it to Master of Blades. Besides this item, it works very well with a Guardian angel, although his items are much lower priority than those of Yi and Shen.
Alternatively, Zed can use other more basic items: Gripper trap defensively, but also offensive options: Doom Blade, Last breath, Infinity blade... |
Spatula and other objects
If you find a Spatula, you will have several options. The best will almost always be to create a Deposed king blade ( + ) For Zed and go play 6 Master of Blades. It is also possible to change Yasuo ou Master Yi en Infiltrator ( + ).
irelia can also equip Thief's Gloves if you play 6 Master of Blades.
Course of the game
This composition will play on a slow roll economy which consists in stay at 50 gold and roll gold above each round, without buying experience. The goal is to find several level 3 champions, as a priority Master Yi et Yasuo, with Zed et Shen as a bonus. Generally, you will want to stay at 6 level or the family 7 level depending on the part for slow roll.

Early game (levels 3/4/5)
In the early game you will generally want to do your best to be as strong as possible. For this purpose, you can for example make a hand of justice as soon as you have the components, this one allowing you to make a series of victory easily. For example, you can play 3 Cyborgs and donate your items to Lucian (hand of justice, Guinsoo...), Where 3 Rebels and give them to Ziggs / Yasuo, or even Blade Masters (Shen, Fiora et xayah) using then Xayah level 2.
Au 4 level, depending on your first units, you will almost always be able to add a unit that strengthens your combination: Graves with cyborgs, Blitzcrank with Rebels and Blade Masters will do fine. You will usually want pass level 4 naturally and try to reach 50 gold as soon as possible, unless you are very strong and can do a winning streak. In this case, consider pass level 4 in round 2-1 et level 5 in 2-2 or in 2-4.
Don't forget to take the Twisted Fates ou Caitlyns that you find: if you play the version Chrononauts, you will need it the time to find Thresh at the end of the game. Think of scout regularly what your opponents are doing (especially when round PVE en 2-7), because you want to make sure no one else is challenging your composition. If so, it is better to pivot to another team.
Midgame (levels 6/7)
If all goes as planned, you should be at 50 PO in 3-1 or 3-2. In this case, use your excess each round to buy experience and pass 6 level. You can then start slow rolling to find your Master Yi et Yasuo, and start collecting your Master of Blades. Remember to buy the other champions at 2-3 gold when you roll (and sell them afterwards), to slightly increase your chances of having Yi and Yasuo on the following rolls. Zed et Shen are also interesting to try to have levels 3.
If you find Wukong and therefore you have the opportunity to play 4 Chrononauts in addition to your 3 Rebels, consider spending your gold for pass level 7 and continue to slow roll. You will then have a 5% (35% → 40%) more chance of finding units at 3 Range (Master Yi) but 5% (35% → 30%) less for those at 2 Range (Yasuo, Zed, Shen), but you'll be much stronger at this point.
Logically, you should take a experience delay compared to other players, which could cost you VP (especially after round 4-1 when many players will level 7 and roll, or a few rounds later when some will level 8). That's why it was rather important to look for a winning streak early in the game.
Once you have found your Master Yi et Yasuo levels 3, however, you should be very strong. If you're only missing a few copies and you're starting to get dangerously low on HP, consider dropping below 50 gold in rolls until you find them to stabilize, then start saving again.
Endgame (level 8+)
Once you have Yi et Yasuo levels 3, your goal should be to pass level 8, even if you are still missing Shen and Zed. Logically, you should then be on a winning streak and can therefore take your time to buy experience while staying above 50 gold. Once level 8, you can slow roll a bit to find Thresh and your latest upgrades of Master of Blades. This is also the time to think about what your needs are apart from your 3 Rebels and 3 Blademasters: you can play 6 Blademasters or 4 Mystics, for example, depending on your opponents.
You may consider going for the 9 level. At this stage, it may be interesting to look for additional synergies: a fourth Chrononaut with Ezreal ou Wukong, or just an individually powerful unit, like Janna for example.
If the game is already almost over or you need to be stronger, you can simply roll your gold level 8 to pick up the few copies of Zed ou Shen who you might miss and have all your champions including Thresh levels 2. For the latter, try to have units with utility on the bench to bring them: Blitzcrank for his grappling hook, Graves for his blindness, Lulu ou Gnar for their control etc.
Different possible transitions
Indeed, this composition has the specificity of being very flexible: it is almost always based on Yasuo, Zed et Master Yi plus another Master of Blades, but other options than the 6 Master of Blades are possible, especially if you have not had Spatula.
|
Zed |
Shen |
Master Yi |
|
|
Soraka |
Lulu |
As said above, a very common transition if you do facing a lot of magic damage (including Star Guardians which are rather popular, or Dark Pulsars who play Xerath carry), add 4 Mystics will be very interesting at the end of the game. You will then always have to be able to beat these compositions. You can also play only 2 and have other additional synergies. |
|
Zed |
Shen |
Master Yi |
Ezreal |
|
Wukong |
Thresh |
If you haven't had a Spatula, it is not especially recommended to play 6 Master of Blades. In this case, you can simply play 3 Master of Blades + 4 Chrononauts, and thus benefit from the controls of Wukong et Fizz / Ekko and utility Ezreal to save more time for your carries. |
|
|
Zed |
Shen |
Master Yi |
Jinx |
Aurelion Sol |
|
Last but not least, if you can't find Thresh but instead you have Aurelion Sol level 2 (and cool items to equip, like morellonomicon, Rabadon's Headdress, Pistolame Hextech...), you can still play 6 Rebels. You can also boost your Master Yi surrounding him with the other Rebels.
|
Positioning Tips
Since this composition has a lot of melee units, the positioning is rather free. However, you will usually want to have Master Yi et Yasuo behind the other tanks (in particular Shen level 3) so that they are not targeted first.
Remember to take full advantage of your 3 Rebels. Also try to have irelia et Riven on the sides so that they don't take the enemy team's focus from the start, since they are rather fragile.
Ideally, you want to monitor your opponents so that Zed et Fizz can hit the opposing carries directly.
