The composition "Lumali" or "Candyland" Sorcerer/Initiator
Sorcerer (4) |
All allies gain +40 magic power. |
Star Guardian (3) |
When a Star Guardian casts a spell, the other Star Guardians share 30 mana. |
Initiator (2) |
Initiators gain +125 armor. |
Mystique (2) |
All allies gain +35 magic resistance. |
Chrononaute (2) |
All allies gain +15% attack speed every 8 seconds. |
The strategy hyper roll consists of rolling all your gold just before reaching level 5 to maximize your chances of obtaining Twisted fate, Zoe et poppy levels 3. The latter will then become an almost unkillable tank, while your Wizards will inflict damage through the mana generation of Sona with the right items. This composition is very flexible, being able to play for example Leona instead of Wukong, or using different combinations ranging from 6 Wizards à 4 Initiators.
When to Play This Comp and Victory Conditions
This composition is powerful but remains situational, since it depends on specific conditions:
- You are not no more than two players to play this composition : the more you will be to challenge poppy, Twisted fate et Zoe, the less likely you are to find them.
- You have important components very early : Tears of the Goddess for Sona, chainmail for Bramble Armor and Chopsticks too big for the Coiffe du Rabadon.
If you are aiming for top 1 in a game, you will usually need to meet the following criteria:
- Twisted Fate, Poppy and Zoe levels 3, while being yourself 8 level at the end and potentially having a legendary unit (Xerath, Lulu) 2 level because your tier 1 champions may run out of steam
- Demonstrate adaptability in the final composition : there are different versions of this composition according to your needs, try to remain open on it.
Preferred items
Sona |

chalice of grace |
chalice of grace |
Seraph's Embrace |
||
+ | + | + | ||
The most optimal version of this comp uses the perfect items on Sona : double chalices of grace + Seraph's Embrace. With this combination, she will cast her ultimate in a loop (since she generates 40 mana when she casts it, which is equal to the cost of the spell), and will generate 20 mana points to all allies around her ( 2 squares max) each time, in addition to healing them. It will allow them to cast their spells very often. |
poppy |
||||
bramble armor |
Rabadon's Headdress |
Ion Spark |
||
+ | + | + | ||
poppy will be your main tank, and will be especially hard to kill at level 3 with the right items. L'bramble armor is necessary to prevent criticism of Jhin ou irelia for example can kill it too quickly, while the Rabadon's Headdress will make his shield even more imposing. She can sometimes use two. Since your team mostly deals magic damage, a Ion Spark will also be very interesting to reduce the magic resistance of opponents.
Alternatively, if you don't have the components for all of these items, Poppy can use other defensive items: Will of the Titan, dragon claw, frozen heart or even Warmog Armor will be possible options. |
Twisted fate |
||||
morellonomicon |
||||
+ | ||||
As with any magic damage based team, you will always want at least one morellonomicon. This one works best on Twisted fate whose spell usually hits many targets.
The latter can use other objects, such as the Lance de Shojin Headdress of Rabadon, even defensive tools like the Gripper trap. However, these will not be your priority. |
Spatula and other objects
If you find a Spatula, you will have several options. Typically, you'll want to change one of your champions to Guardian of the stars ( + ), potentially Sona or one of your others Wizards (Vel'Koz for example). Otherwise, this build doesn't use the Spatula very well.
At the level of other objects, Zoe can use Thief's Gloves to take advantage of it being level 3. If you get a legendary unit at the end of the game, you can start giving it items as well: Guinsoo's Raging Blade for Xerath, Or Lance de Shojin for Lulu for example.
Course of the game
This composition is based on a strategy called "hyper roll", which consists of rolling all your gold just before reaching level 5 to maximize your chances of obtaining level 1 tier 3 champions. As a result, you will have to decide very early on whether you go on it, and play accordingly.
Early game (levels 3/4/5)
Your objective at the start of the game is very simple: buy only poppy, Twisted fate, Zoe et Leona, never buy XP, and above all try to save as soon as possible. To play your hyper roll well, you will want to pass the 10 gold level in the first or second PVP round at the latest. Indeed, you will want to have maximum gold when you go to roll to get your levels 3.
Logically, you should beat the Krugs without having to level up and then be level 4 to 8/10 XP in round 3-1. Ideally, you'll want to have at least 40 gold, if not more. During this round, take advantage of the very high drop rate for tier 1 champions for roll all your gold and purchase each copy of Twisted fate, poppy, Zoe, and potentially Leona et Sona as a bonus, although they are less important. Your objective is to pass them level 3.
It will be rare that you manage to hit all your upgrades at once, you will generally miss a few units for levels 3. Rather than continuing to roll after this stage, start saving again. You go again roll after Wolves (round 4-1) to find your last missing copies, then you can save again to catch up on your XP.
If ever when you are and train the roll and round 3-1 you see that you can't find your units because you are too challenged, you can stop rolling and keep 20 or 30 gold, then rotate to another composition.
When you're level 5, you'll usually want to play your 4 units (poppy, Zoe, Twisted fate et Leona) + Ahri for Guardian of the stars. This can carry the Sona mana generation items until you find it level 2.
Midgame (levels 6/7)
Once you have a solid base, your goal will simply be to try and get to level 8 before the end of the game. Once you find a few level 3 champions, you should generally be in winning streak which will allow you to rebuild an economy fast enough. Then try toreach 50 gold and level up as soon as you can without going too far below.
Au 6 level, ideally you want to play poppy, Zoe, Twisted fate, Leona, Sona et Soraka. When you find a wukong level 2, this will generally replace Leona, even though she's level 3. If he's less tanky than her then, he offers a lot more utility with his area control.
Au 7 level, You can add a 3rd Sorcerer, but you shouldn't stay there very long. Your goal is to pass level 8 as soon as possible.
Endgame (level 8+)
He will be almost impossible to pass level 9 with this composition, because the game will generally be over before since you will be late in XP. At 8 level, however, you can add new synergies. The most common will be to play 4 Wizards by adding Ahri ou syndra + Luxury for example. Ideally, these can be replaced by Vel'Koz and why not Xerath if you can get your hands on it.
It will not be uncommon for you to pass level 8 as soon as you can (even if you don't have any more gold) if it allows you to get in your 4 Wizards quickly. You can then start saving a few rounds again to slowroll to 20 or 30 gold and find your late game units. Indeed, the use of legendary champions will make up for the fact that poppy et Twisted fate can run out of steam so late in the game.
The endgame will also be a stage where you have to be flexible: you can play different versions of the composition depending on the components you have and the champions you find.
Different possible transitions
There are several popular versions of this build, depending on the different components you get, enemy builds, and champions at your disposal.
|
Twisted fate |
poppy |
Wukong |
Ahri |
|
|
|
The original version of this composition is one that simply uses 6 Wizards. It is to be preferred if you do not get your hands on many Tears of the Goddess for Sona, but rather Chopsticks too big to provide a double Rabadon on Poppy and make it nearly unkillable. The Sorcerers' choice is once again free. If you have a Star Guardian Charm, you can play 6 Star Guardians instead. |
|
Twisted fate |
poppy |
Leona |
Jayce |
Wukong |
|
|
If you deal a lot of physical damage (Sniper, Master of Blades), and you already have Leona level 3, it may be interesting to play 4 Initiators by adding Jayce (which does benefit from magic power) and Wukong. Your last units can then be 2 Wizards ou 2 Mystics. |
poppy |
Leona |
xayah |
Fiora |
Shen |
Blitzcrank |
Vi |
Kassadine |
Finally, if ever you are challenged on Twisted fate et Zoe, you can head to another hyper roll comp that uses xayah et Fiora in carries, also passing them levels 3. xayah will then use attack speed items (Guinsoo's Raging Blade, Dagger of Statikk), or a Last breath to counter other players poppy. |
Positioning Tips
With this composition, you will always want to have your units grouped around Sona, avoiding having them more than 2 squares from the latter (except for your frontline) so that it generates mana for them. This one should be protected, because its mana generation is very important.
Twisted fate et Vel'Koz will generally be positioned on the side so that they hit as many opponents as possible with the "cone" of their zone skills. poppy should be close to the center in order to be the main target of opponents, being the most tanky.
This position should be reproduced symmetrically in order to be on the same side as most opponents, so that your Wizards hit them faster without having to move. If you deal a lot of area damage (especially Gangplank), try to have your Sorcerers more separated on the baseline rather than grouped together.
