The composition " Shredder from Teamfight Tactics uses a hyper roll strategy to get Shen, Jarvan, Fiora and Xayah level 3 early in the game, with the latter serving as the main carry. There is also another version that plays Caitlyn in carry.

The Hyper roll composition "Shredder" Blademaster / Celestial Being

The strategy hyper roll consists of rolling all your gold just before reaching level 5 to maximize your chances of obtaining Jarvan IV, Fiora et Shen and especially Xayah levels 3. The latter will then become your main carry, capable of inflicting enormous physical damage to cut through the many enemy tanks, hence the name " Shredder of the composition. The most popular new version of this comp uses 6 Master of Blades to maximize Xayah's DPS.

Note that there is also an alternative version of this composition which is very similar but plays Caitlyn in main carry plutôt that xayah, and uses other synergies but uses basically the same objects and is played in the same way.

When to Play This Comp and Victory Conditions

This composition is powerful but remains situational, since it depends on specific conditions:

• You are not no more than two players to play this composition : The more of you who challenge your units, the less likely you are to find them.
• You have important components very early: one or more BF Swords and ideally also components for the Mercury are absolutely necessary for xayah.
• You have already multiple copies of key units comp early in the game (xayah, Jarvan IV, Caitlyn, Fiora, Shen...).

 

If you are aiming for top 1 in a game, you will usually need to meet the following criteria:

• Xayah, Jarvan IV, Caitlyn, Shen and Fiora (or Twisted Fate and Zoe) levels 3.
• Successfully pass level 9 to add additional synergies and legendary units (Janna, Thresh ou Lulu levels 2 for example).

Spatula and other objects

If you find a  Spatula, the best option (besides a  Force of nature) will generally be to make a  celestial orb ( + ) to have more options later, or even play 4 Celestial Beings since the 7 level.

A  Lance de Shojin is always a good object to make: it can go on Ashe, Lulu, Rakan, Soraka, Karma... The contribution of control will always be interesting.

Course of the game

This composition can be played with a strategy called " hyper roll ", which consists in roll all your gold just before level 5 to maximize your chances of getting tier 1 level 3 champions. However, it is now more popular to "slow roll": go to 50 gold and roll the excess gold each round.

Early game (levels 3/4/5)

Your objective at the start of the game is very simple: buy only xayah, Jguess IV, Fiora, Shen et Rakan, never buy XP, and above all try to save as soon as possible. To play your hyper roll well, you will want pass the 10 gold level in the first or second PVP round at the latest. Indeed, you will want to have maximum gold when you go to roll to get your levels 3.

If you play the version Caitlyn carry, you can ignore Fiora et xayah for the benefit of Twisted fate et Zoe. Generally you will choose between these two compositions depending on the champions you find and if you are challenged.

It is likely that you are in losing streak in stage 2. If so, it is essential to continue it until the PVE round (2-7), even if it means intentionally playing a weaker board. If you interrupt your streak, it will cost you a lot of savings. Logically, you should beat the Krugs without having to level up and then be level 4 to 8/10 XP in round 3-1. Ideally, you'll want to have at least 40 gold, if not more. Your goal is to upgrade to 50 gold as soon as possible without ever buying experience, then roll all your gold above 50 each round.

Your objective as such is to buy and play (in order of priority) every: Xayah> Jarvan IV > Fiora> Shen > Rakan. If you are playing the Caitlyn version, the units are: Caitlyn > Twisted Fate > Jarvan IV > Zoé> Friend. You should slow roll throughout stage 3 trying never to drop below 50 gold. After the round PVE (3-7), if you are only missing a few units, you can roll up to 40-30 gold to get the units you need.

Once you have at least your carry (xayah ou Caitlyn / Twisted Fate) and another unit (Jarvan IV, Fiora, Shen...) levels 3, you'll want to start leveling up.

Midgame (levels 6/7)

Once you have a solid base, your objective will simply be to try to pass level 8 (or even 9) before the end of the game. Once you find a few level 3 champions, you should generally be in winning streak which will allow you to rebuild an economy fast enough. Then try toreach 50 gold and level up as soon as you can without going too far below.

To level 6 and 7, you should add strong units (a second Jarvan ou Shen levels 2 for example in the composition Xayah carry) or additional synergies (Ashe et Rakan in the version Caitlyn carry). 

Endgame (level 8+)

Au 8 level, you can add new synergies. The most common will be to play 6 Master of Blades for version xayah carry, although it is possible to play 4 Celestial Beings (With Lulu, Ashe et Caitlyn instead of Riven, Master Yi et irelia).

If you play Caitlyn, you can also add Lulu ou Soraka for Mystique.

If you have the chance, try to pass 9 level. This will allow you to add additional synergies if you play Shredder entering Thresh for example. If you play the version Caitlyn, Janna will generally be your best choice since it will give you 3 Star Guardians with Zoe et Soraka.

Positioning Tips

Although xayah either your main carry, it is not necessarily recommended to have it in the last line: its range is rather short and it is vulnerable to Infiltrators et Blitzcranks opponents. If you put it just behind your frontline, it can then destroy the opposing tank and then sometimes directly target the backline.

With this composition, you will generally want to position yourself on the same side as the opponents (on the right or on the left): the closer you are to them, the more xayah can attack without wasting time moving. It also avoids that Jarvan IV strays too far from his team and doesn't affect them with his ultimate.

The snipers will obviously go around corners since they benefit the most from their long range, especially if your Caitlyn to a Mercury to protect her from the Blitzcranks. Otherwise, put Karma in the corner to protect and boost her at the same time.
