TFT: Giant Slayer, new item that affects the 9.19 meta

Our articles on Tactical Combat TFT: Giant Slayer, new item that affects the 9.19 meta TFT: Giant Slayer, new item that affects the 9.19 meta Among the new items added in 9.19, the Giant Slayer is certainly the one that had the most impact on the meta.

Not even a week after Teamfight Tactics patch 9.19, one of the new items added by the update stands out: the Giant Slayer. New recipe that replaces the Sword of the Divine which was one of the least popular items, this combination of Curved Bow and BF Glaive allows the equipped champion to inflict 5% of the target's max HP in pure damage with each auto attack .

Giant Slayer, the darling of Rangers and Gunslingers

Due to its effect on impact, this item is ideal on champions with a lot of attack speed or who attack several targets at the same time. As a result, it now carries two comps to the top of the meta. First, the new “Hyper roll” composition 6 Knights + 2 Rangers with Vayne in carry overnight became one of the best in 9.19. Usually with a Guinsoo's Raging Blade et two Giant Slayers, it allows Vayne to deal high pure damage to any unit she targets.

Also, the different variations of Gunslinger compositions work perfectly with this item. Let it be the standard "Hyper roll" 4 Gunslingers + 3 Pirates + 3 Blademasters, or most recent 6 Blademasters + 4 Gunslingers with Lucian carry, the Giant Slayer has become an ideal item. Since they can apply it to multiple targets at once, on-hit damage is very effective on these gunslingers, especially when paired with a Deposed king blade to turn them into Master of Blades.

And the curse of Brawlers and Shapeshifters...

The Brawlers seemed to be ready to come back strong in the meta in 9.19, with buffs on Vi, Blitzcrank et volibear. Also, the new version of Titanic Hydra should work very effectively on those high HP champions. However, the arrival of Giant Slayer as a highly prized item was enough to knock them out of the way, melting their health bars in a few hits. The compositions 6 Brawlers are not likely to make their return anytime soon...

For their part, the Shapeshifters remain very viable, but the mix of nerfs they have undergone and this new object is now enough to make them less oppressive. While they dominated the meta in 9.18, they are now much less common, besides composition 3 Shapeshifters + 4 Savages + 3 Sorcerers.

Patch 9.19 actually reshuffled the cards from the 9.19 meta, and it's interesting to see that out of all the new items, this isn't ultimately one that comes from the new component (Training gloves) that has the most impact on the meta.
