Patch 9.14 will bring a lot of changes to Teamfight Tactics, first in terms of balancing but also with the arrival of ranked mode. If the meta is going to be turned upside down, don't worry, we've been testing comps on the PBE to show you the best ones so you'll be ready to go Challenger (offer without guarantee)!
The Gunslinger/Pirate/Blademaster composition
Graves (1) / Tristana (1) / Lucian (2) / Gangplank (3) / Pyke (2) / Draven (4) / Aatrox (3) / Swain (5)
Demon (2) : Demon attacks have a 25% chance to burn the target's mana and deal that much true damage.
Imperial (2) : A random Imperial deals twice as much damage.
Pirate (3) : At the end of a fight against another player, you gain up to 4 additional gold.
Blademaster (3) : Blademasters have a 35% chance to perform an additional auto attack when attacking.
Gunslinger (4) : When attacking, Gunslingers have a 50% chance to launch an additional auto attack on 2 other targets within range.
The gunslingers were able to make the most of the various changes in 9.14. In addition to the functioning of their bonus which has been improved (they now attack all additional targets at the same time and no longer one by one), they are the least affected by Demons which are now very popular. Indeed, the spells of the gunslingers are not very important and their mana is generally weak, thus reducing the effectiveness of the demons.
Coupled with a bonus Pirate which is now easier to obtain in the early game thanks to Twisted fate, Master of Blades are a logical transition thanks to Gangplank. Swain is there when it comes to bonuses Demon and Imperial which add even more spice to this composition in the late game.
Preferred items:
Red Buff / Cursed Blade / Swordbreaker / Titanic Hydra
β Since gunslingers are able to attack multiple targets at the same time and apply effects on impact, the latter are the most important for the composition to work. The Cursed Blade also benefited from a buff which makes it much more interesting.
β Generally put on Tristana (level 3 if possible), objects like the Cursed Blade, sword breaker et Titanic Hydra work perfectly for him to downlevel, disarm, and damage all opponents at the same time.
β The red buff is formidable, especially on Graves who can apply it to all targets his attacks hit at the same time.
β Other options are possible for champions who are not gunslingers, such as a Infinity blade or a Ultra-fast cannon for Draven, or else a Lance de Shojin for Pyke for example.
Start of the game and other options:
β The start of the game is generally quite simple with this composition: Tristana, Graves, Lucian et Pyke are usually easy to find early in the game.
β It is interesting to find the 3 Pirates early enough in order to generate a good economy, which is why a champion like Twisted fate can be considered the time to find Gangplank.
β For the end of the game, Swain is not mandatory, the same for Aatrox. It is possible to choose Yasuo for the bonus Master of Blades for example.
β At the end of the game, the Pirates are less important so it may be interesting to replace Pyke by a more efficient unit, or simply to find Miss Fortune to replace Lucian and retain pirates.
The Demon/Elementalist/Shapeshifter composition
Elise (1) / Aatrox (3) / Brand (4) / Swain (5) / Lissandra (2) / Anivia (5) / Gnar (4) / Draven (4)
Demon (4) : Demon attacks have a 50% chance to burn the target's mana and deal that much true damage.
Glacial (2) : Glacial attacks have a 20% chance to stun the target for 2 seconds.
Imperial (2) : A random Imperial deals twice as much damage.
Elementalist (3) : At the start of the fight, summon a Golem.
Shapeshifter (3) : Shapeshifters gain 60% of their max HP when transforming.
This composition received several buffs during patch 9.14. To begin with, several Demons have been improved, in particular Elise which only costs 1 gold and whose spiders apply the demon bonus, but also Aatrox. In addition, fixing a bug in Shapeshifters which caused them to not recover as much HP as intended when transforming also buffed them slightly.
The advantage of this build is that any champion can carry it, so it's very flexible in terms of what items to equip. Mana generation for Brand physical damage to Draven, passing by the objects of tanks for Swain, everything is possible.
Preferred items:
Spear of Shojin / Ultra-Rapid Cannon / Infinity Edge / Darkin
β As mentioned above, items can go on different champions. The Lance de Shojin will be particularly useful if you decide to play around your Brand for example.
β If the carry is rather Draven, objects like Ultra-fast cannon ( Guinsoo's Raging Blade), Infinity blade et Thirst for blood will be very strong on it.
β Finally, since this composition requires Demons, an object like Darkin which transforms one of your champions into a demon can be useful to have a better synergy bonus.
Start of the game and other options:
β It will not be uncommon to start the game with Demons as Elise et Morgana, even if it means selling some of them afterwards.
β The first objective at the start of the game should be to get all 3 Elementalists, even if it means having Kennan instead ofAnivia until you find it.
β Aatrox can be replaced by another Demon, but it's worth keeping, especially if you get a Deposed king blade to have a third Master of Blades.
The Savage/Shapeshifter composition
Nidalee (1) / Warwick (1) / Ahri (2) / Gnar (4) / Shyvana (3) / Aurelion Sol (4) / Morgana (3) / Swain (5)
Demon (2) : Demon attacks have a 25% chance to burn the target's mana and deal that much true damage.
Dragon (2) : Dragons are immune to magic damage.
Wild (4) : All units gain 8% attack speed with each auto attack, this bonus stacks up to 5 times.
Shapeshifter (3) : Shapeshifters gain 60% of their max HP when transforming.
Sorcerer (3) : All allies have +35% magic damage.
This composition is not without really new, it was already very played in the previous patch for a Aurelion Sol very powerful, but it is now more oriented towards Shapeshifters, and especially Shyvana. Since their bugfix, they become much more tanky when they transform, and in particular the latter whose damage and HP have been increased in 9.14.
The composition can also revolve around Gnar, which becomes extremely difficult to kill after transforming, easily approaching 4000 HP if it is level 2. However, beware of Demons which are very popular and can delay the transformation of shifters.
Preferred items:
Warmog, Living Armor / Thorny Mail / Hextech Gunblade / Phantom Dancer
β As said above, this build focuses mainly around Shyvana who becomes very tanky when she transforms and with the magic immunity of Dragon and inflicts a lot of damage.
β The thorny coat allows her to reflect physical damage she suffers, while the Pistolame Hextech allows her to heal some of the huge area damage she inflicts.
β In support, the Warmog, Living Armor or ghost dancer will ensure that he is very hard to kill and can destroy the opposing team with his heavy damage.
β It is also possible to equip Gnar of the Warmog, and to give it a bonus Titanic Hydra to use his many HP, or to play as usual with Lance de Shojin for Aurelion Sol.
Start of the game and other options:
β As usual for a Wild build, Nidalee et Warwick will be the best champions to start this composition, with Ahri et Gnar which will be added later (the latter can be temporarily replaced by Rengar).
β If Swain is hard to find, it can be replaced by Elise for the same bonuses of Shapeshifter and Demon.
β Demons are not absolutely necessary in this composition, that's why Morgana can be replaced by another Wizard, just as it is possible to simply not play wizard at all, althoughAurelion Sol be essential for the bonus Dragon.
With these three comps, you should be ready to tackle ranked mode with ease on patch 9.14. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to post them in the comments.
