You've all come to a situation where a Spatula (or other highly contested item depending on the meta) appeared on the first carousel and 4 or 5 players were trying to position themselves best to get it. In these scenarios, there are a few tricks to maximize your chances of being first on top. Luden Kuma, a challenger player on the NA servers presents some advice in videos, which we will transcribe for you.
Determine where to stand
As discussed in our 10 advanced tips, one of the best ways to get the object of your choice is first of all to know how to position yourself well. As shown in Luden Kuma's video, it is important to watch the timer at the top of the screen to know where to go.
He thus advises to look when he remains 8 seconds before the doors open and then position à 180° (opposite) of the champion you wish to take. The 4 seconds from opening, so you should be roughly at an angle of 90°.
Get as close to the edge as possible
The Carousel is blocked by light walls before opening, which prevent Little Legends from accessing it. However, it is possible to get as close as possible to the champions to have less distance to cover. To do this, rather than clicking inside the Carousel, you have to click outside the wall closer and closer to it until your little legend can't move forward anymore. If this trick only saves a few pixels, it nevertheless maximizes your chances of being the first on the object of your choice.
Use the Attack move command
When the Carousel doors open, the game will detect players who click to move, the first to click being the first to move. To maximize your chances of getting started very quickly, Luden Kuma explains how to use League of Legends' Attack Move feature.
This command, which is normally useless on TFT, allows you to move your little caption in the same way as your right click. Thereby, by assigning two keyboard keys to it, you will be able to spam the right click and these two keys to triple your movement actions, and gain a few precious moments when the doors open. Indeed, when the game is going to check if you are doing a move action, it should happen sooner if you press 3 buttons at the same time rather than just the right click.
To activate this option, go to the client de League of Legends before starting a game, click on the knob at the top right to access the options, go to the tab shortcuts and Player moves and assign two keys of your choice to the action "Click move-attack player". In the example, we have chosen B and N which are not used by other TFT actions and are close to each other.
These little tricks may seem trivial, but all combined, they should often make the difference between you and other players trying to get the same priority item (Spatula or other strong component in the meta). If you have any questions or suggestions, we would love to read them in the comments.
