Teamfight Tactics: the most OP builds

Our articles on Tactical Combat Teamfight Tactics: the most OP builds Tactical Combat is about to be released on the live client, and we present to you the most OP builds to start playing this new mode of League of Legends.

We had already presented some tips for getting started on Combat Tactique (Teamfight Tactics), but the game has evolved a lot since then. With several balance updates, the meta has opened its arms to new archetypes (or builds) that are extremely popular and strong. Besides the 6 Nobles, 6 Assassins and the Sorcerer/Elementalist combinations we already talked about, here is 4 awesome new strategies on TFT. Each of them relies on one or two specific champions who will be defined as team carry, and which will be the centerpiece of it and the one on which you generally want to invest your objects.

The Savage/Shapeshifter/Sorcerer/Dragon build (Carry: Aurelion Sol, sometimes Nidalee)

Teamfight Tactics: the most OP builds

This is probably the most popular archetype around right now, you've probably seen it if you watch TFT streams or play the game. These 7 champions work extremely well together: they allow you to have the bonus of Dragons (Shyvana and Aurelion Sol are invulnerable to magic damage), 3 Wizards (+35% Magical Damage), from 4 Savages (each unit gains 7% Attack Speed with each AA, up to 35%), and Shapeshifter (Shyvana, Nidalee and Gnar gain 100% of their max HP when transforming).

While easy to build, since Warwick and Nidalee are very common in the early game and effective together, this combination definitely needs some Gnar to work, since it allows you to pass the course of 4 Savages and 3 Metamorphs. Afterwards, Aurelion Sol is usually the most important champion, able to decimate the opposing team with his heavy area damage. Shojinn's Spear, Guinsoo's Rageblade, and Rabadon's Cap are great items on him.

To complete this build, Cho'Gath, is interesting for its control and Brawler bonus, Swain because it's a Shapeshifter, or just strong units alone like Sejuani ou Yasuo.

The Glacial/Ranger/Guardian/Noble build (Carry: Vayne, sometimes Volibear)

Teamfight Tactics: the most OP builds

Very popular before the various patches, this build is a little less so with the two nerfs to Volibear but remains very powerful. The most important feature is that of 4 Glaciers, which allows you to have a 30% chance of stunning the target during an AA from a Glacial. Additionally, the bonus of 3 Noble (1 random ally has +100 Armor and 35 HP/Attack), from 2 Rangers (25% double attack speed for Vayne and Ashe) and guardian (+30 Armor to adjacent allies of Braum and Leona) allows for a lot of choice when it comes to where to go with this strategy. It is possible to branch off to the 6 Nobles, or rather the 6 Glaciers

As with the previous build, this one builds pretty organically with Darius, Garen, and Vayne being common and effective in the early game. Thereafter, they can be sold in favor of better units if you wish to change direction. The centerpiece is usually volibear, as his ultimate that allows his AA to hit multiple targets also allows him to stun multiple opponents at the same time. It is therefore very interesting to buy a lot of Attack Speed on it, especially Guinsoo's Raging Blade. It is also possible to use the items on Vayne and try to protect her, especially if she is level 3.

As said before, this build has the advantage of being very flexible and able to adapt: Lisandra et Anivia for more Glacial bonuses, or the trio Lucian / Fiora / Kayle for the 6 Nobles.

The Imperial/Blademaster build (Carry: Draven)

Teamfight Tactics: the most OP builds

Despite the nerf he suffered, Draven remains one of TFT's best champions. With his massive DPS and massive Crits, it's easy to cram him into just about any comp and give him items to be monstrous. But the build he works the most in is one that centers around his traits: 4 Imperials (All Imperials deal double damage) and 3 Blade Masters (Draven, Shen and Aatrox have a 35% chance to inflict an additional attack). Strategy difficult to have, it is furiously effective when it works.

The main difficulty of this build is to get Swain, otherwise it is impossible to have the bonus linked to the 4 Imperials in order to make Draven out of control. However, even before having it, it is possible to build your team differently while having Guinsoo's Enraged Blade, Bloodthirst and Infinity Blade on the carry, for example. The presence of the Blademasters is not necessary either, but it offers a nice DPS bonus as well as more tanks to protect the Glorious Executor.

To complete this build, you can opt for two Shapeshifters to go with Swain, or else two Assassins in order to quickly eliminate the opposing danger so that he cannot kill Draven.

The Assassin/Ninja/Void/Brawler Build (Carry: Akali, sometimes Kha'Zix)

Teamfight Tactics: the most OP builds

As with the Imperial build, this build is quite difficult to set up. In fact, the origin Ninja only gives a bonus if you have exactly 1 or 4 (+40% or +80% damage), so you'll usually have to keep your units aside until you can land them all. In parallel, the 2 Brawlers (+300 Max PV) as well as the Shen offer a good tank line, while your 3 Assassins (crits inflict +150% damage) are formidable against enemy fragile champions. Finally, with the proliferation of Thornmail since the last patch, the origin néant (all units ignore 50% armor) works great with assassins.

In this composition, it is usually Akali who carries the role of main carry. Since his spell costs very little mana and can therefore be spammed, and he can also inflict critical hits, a Guinsoo's Raging Blade will be useful to allow him to use it even faster, while a Rabadon's Cap will increase the damage of his kunaïs enormously. However, it is possible to opt for a Kha'Zix in carry with similar items, especially if you get it quickly at level 3.

For the rest, you can choose to go on 2 Elementalist to go with Kennen, or on Assassins additional ones, especially if you have the Force of Nature or the Specter Blade of Youmuu, which will allow you to have 6 Assassins without removing any champions already present.

Of course, as we've already mentioned in our TFT mistakes not to make guide, these builds are bound to change depending on the needs of the game. You don't have to never start a match with a strategy already in mind, but in the contrary adapt to the situation and the choices offered to do the best. Several champions are not necessarily essential for the operation of the proposed archetypes, these are only the optimized versions which will arrive once in a while, and will then be extremely OP.
