TFT Set 2: Elementary squares, how to play with?

Our articles on Tactical Combat TFT Set 2: Elementary squares, how to play with? Elemental Squares are a new mechanic in TFT Set 2. We give you some advice on how to best use them.

Elementary Squares join the many changes in TFT set 2. Along with new champions, traits, and items, this random mechanic creates areas on the board that offer bonuses based on their element. We provide you with some valuable tips to help you make the most of them.

Elementary boxes, what is it?

As detailed in our dedicated article, Elementary Squares are squares on the board that will appear as the game progresses and that give a bonus to the champion who is on it at the start of the fight according to their element. This element is determined at the start of the match, and all the boxes that will appear will be of the same color.

Ocean +30 mana points at the start of the fight
Wind +20% dodge chance
Underworld +30% attack speed
Mountain +30 HP per round for the rest of the game

The first elementary square appears randomly on the game board.from the first round of the game, and it is in the same position for all players. A second appears at the start of the round 3-1. In addition to the bonuses offered, these boxes also determine the origin of Qiyana, which will then be Ocean, Wind, Underworld ou Mountain.

How to play on Elementary Squares?

The logic is simple: you want to put your champion who benefits the most from the Elemental Box on it. If it is a underworld box, a physical carry will be very happy to gain the extra attack speed, while a Mage will benefit more from ocean space. It will however be necessary to pay attention to a detail: the bonus offered by the elementary Boxes counts as an object. If your champion already has 3 items equipped (or Thief's Gloves), he won't be able to go on them.

However, it is recommended to favor the optimal positioning of your units over the bonuses offered by the boxes. If an Underworld space can be very interesting for a champion like Sivir or Vayne, it is better not to put them on it if it is on the first row, directly facing the opposing teams. Sometimes, it will even be more interesting to completely ignore a box to have better positioned units, especially at the end of the game.

Finally, an interesting trick is the use of the TFT Set 2: Elementary squares, how to play with? Zephyr on an elementary cell. With the bonuses they give, most players will be tempted to put their carry, or at least an important piece of their composition on it. Since the squares are symmetrical in the players, a Zephyr positioned on an elementary square guarantees to hit the opponent who is on it.

Some specific tips

The houses Wind are probably the most interesting in terms of decision-making. One item should be your top priority when you see the Wind element: the TFT Set 2: Elementary squares, how to play with? Gantelet Givrant (TFT Set 2: Elementary squares, how to play with? + TFT Set 2: Elementary squares, how to play with?). With the 20% dodge offered by the item, and the 20% offered by the box, your tank that has it will be able to extend its attack speed slowdown zone very quickly. As long as you manage to get two Origin Wind champions (Yasuo, Janna, Qiyana...), the champion equipped with the Freezing Gauntlet will reach up to 55% dodge, making him virtually unkillable by physical damage.

Another interesting case are the boxes Mountain. First of all, they offer bonus HP permanent each round for the champion who is on it, which means he is interesting to put a champion there that you think you will keep in your final composition. Furthermore, they allow Qiyana to be ofmountain element, which is very interesting. The Mountain origin grants a massive 1500 HP shield to a random ally at the start of the round, which is very effective but generally difficult to obtain in the early game since it requires Taliyah (which costs 1 gold) and malphite (which costs 4). When Qiyana (3 Range) is Mountain, it becomes much easier to get this bonus at the start of the game, when he is particularly strong.

Finally, the last element that offers particular decision-making is Ocean. If it's tempting to put in a champion who wants to cast a lot of spells, like Weighs ou Azir, it will generally be more useful to use these boxes for a champion who absolutely must use his ultimate very quickly. Indeed, the mana bonus only applies at the start of the fight, which allows champions to release their spells more quickly. Characters like Janna, Dr. World or even malphite et taric will be very interesting choices for example.
